My staff and I welcome you. Our office is available to you in any way possible to help with the assessment policies and procedures governed by New York State Real Property Tax Law.
Our department is responsible for determining assessments and maintaining property inventory records, ownership interest, and maps on approximately 12,000 parcels. Each year our office processes over one thousand deeds.
Our work involves plotting deeds, adjusting parcel sizes, and transferring ownership interest on our records. We also provide information to attorneys, appraisers, bankers, realtors, taxpayers and others. A personal computer is available in our office for the public to access this information.
We also receive a copy of all building permits issued by the Town and the Village of Altamont. We review and evaluate each of these permits for either inventory or assessment changes.
