Welcome to the Historian's web page. I trust that your visit will leave you with a new knowledge of the richness of Guilderland's history and enhance a sense of pride in your community.
Winston Churchill wrote "Without a sense of history, no one can truly understand the present." Events that shaped the history of a town give meaning to its present day status.
That Mohawk and Mohican Indians walked the path of Route 20 where cars and trucks speed along today is a certainty. Where pioneers trekked along rutted paths through forests searching for food, students now walk along paved and concreted walks in search of knowledge at the State University of New York near Fuller Road and Route 20. The scenes are changing constantly, and our view of the history of that change must always be acknowledged and shared.
The first, and primary responsibility as the Local Government Historian is interpretation of the past. Contact me if you have a project or questions about our Town's history. (518) 456-3032
