In an effort to help conserve water and reduce pollution from stormwater runoff, the Town of Guilderland has joined with The New England Rain Barrel Company to offer residents the opportunity to purchase a rain barrel at the discounted price of $68 ($21 off retail price).
The 55 gallon blue plastic recycled barrel captures and stores rainwater from the roof gutter system of your home for later use in watering flowers, vegetables, shrubs and trees. An inlet opening covered with screened louver keeps insects and debris out, and a sealed lid prevents children or pets from getting inside. The containers have 2 brass spigots; one to allow for hose connection and one for overflow. A 5' hose with a shutoff valve is included, and barrels can be joined for additional capacity.
Orders must be placed with The New England Rain Barrel Company by noon on or before May 7, 2008, by calling toll free at 877-977-3135 or by ordering online at www.nerainbarrel.com. Barrels can be picked up on May 11, 2008, between 11 am and 3 pm at the Town highway garage located at 6338 French's Mill Road, Guilderland Center.
