Welcome to Guilderland's Parks! The Town of Guilderland is proud to offer its residents 7 well-maintained parks within the Town. The parks are open to all Town of Guilderland residents and most facilities are open year-round until dusk. Residents of the Town can obtain park stickers for Tawasentha Park and the Winter Recreation Area at the Town Clerk's Office in Town Hall or at the Parks & Recreation Department located across from Tawasentha Park on Route 146.
Guilderland's Neighborhood Pocket Parks
Ft. Hunter Park
Ronald Place, Guilderland
Fort Hunter Park was built in the mid-1980's and is situated in a quiet residential area off Carman Road (Route 146). The park is approximately 4 acres with a playground, basketball court, softball field and sledding hill for youngsters.
The park is used primarily by residents in the Fort Hunter neighborhood. The Parks & Recreation Department is currently upgrading the irrigation and installing a new basketball court at the park.
Directions:
Follow Route 146 North toward Schenectady. Turn left onto Ronald Place and left onto Anne Drive.
McKownville (Abele) Park
Strawberry Lane, Guilderland
McKownville Park is named after Fred Abele, a long-time resident of McKownville and Town employee. The 4-5 acre park is tucked away off Schoolhouse Road with a basketball court, playground, softball field and walking path to McKownville Rd.
Directions:
From Route 20 (Western Ave.), turn onto Schoolhouse Rd and left onto Strawberry Lane. The park is situated at the end of the street.
Volunteer Firefighters Memorial Park
DiBella Drive, Guilderland
Volunteer Firefighters Memorial Park was built in the mid-1980's and consists of over 20 acres of land. The park was dedicated to volunteer firefighters and emergency services by former Town Supervisor Kevin Moss.
The park includes a softball field, open space, a children's playground and walking paths. The park is used primarily by residents in the surrounding neighborhoods.
Directions:
From Carman Road (Route 146) heading North toward Schenectady. Turn right onto Lone Pine and right onto DiBella Drive.
