Guilderland Town Seal
Town of Guilderland
In accordance with the Town of Guilderland Recycling Law, the following materials must be separated and recycled:

NEWSPAPERS:             
Newsprint with inserts is acceptable loose or in a plastic bag.  

MAGAZINES/
JUNK MAIL:              
Magazines, coupons, envelopes, direct mail ads, flyers, gift wrap, school/office/computer paper, phone books and paperback books will be accepted.  No hard covered books.

CORRUGATED
CARDBOARD:              
Maximum size is 2' x 4' and must be flattened.  Paper bags, gift boxes and food boxes can be put in with the cardboard.  All must be dry.

GLASS:                  
Clear, green and amber glass will be accepted.  All lids must be removed and put in the appropriate bin.  No light bulbs, window glass or mirrors will be accepted.

TIN CANS:                       
All tin cans will be accpeted (cat / dog food, soup cans, etc.).  All cans must be washed and dried.  Pie tins, aluminum foil and soda cans are also accepted.

PLASTICS:                       
Only plastics with the HDPE#s 1, 2 or 3 in the triangle on the bottom will be accpeted.  No oil containers, plastic bags, toys or hangers.  Plastic bags can be recycled by taking them to your local grocery store.

PROPANE TANKS:  
20 lb. tanks - $3.00 each.

HOUSEHOLD
BATTERIES:              
Alkaline batteries can be thrown in the trash.  All other household batteries may be placed in designated area.

TIRES:                  
Passenger and light truck tires - $3.00 each; $5.00 on rims.
Truck tires 20"-24"- $12.00 each; $17.00 on rims.
Larger tires please ask for prices.

YARD WASTE:             
Leaves and grass may be loose or in the brown biodegradable bags.  Tree limbs maximum of 4 feet in lenght, up to 6 inches in diameter.  NO STUMPS ALLOWED.  No charge for brush from residents.

BUSINESS
LANDSCAPERS /
TREE SERVICES:          
Brush and yard waste charged by the weight; $50.00 per ton, $2.50 minimum for 100 lbs. or less.

CLOTHING:                       
Salvation Army drop off bins are located near the off ramp of the Transfer Station.




FEES

HOUSEHOLD  
KITCHEN GARBAGE:        
A punch card is needed for dumping of household kitchen garbage.  This can be purchased at the Transfer Station Office and at the Town Clerk's office in Town Hall.  
                                
Seniors (over 60) - Full card (10 punches):             $35.00
Senior Individual Trips:                                                $4.00 each
Non-Seniors - Full card (10 punches):                     $45.00
Non-Senior Individual Trips:                                       $5.00 each

DEMOLITION:             
Charged by the weight -                 $115.00 per ton; $5.75 minimum for 100 lbs. or less.
Contractors & Businesses -         $125 per ton; $6.25 minimum for 100 lbs. or less.

EXAMPLE:                        
Appliances, furniture, building materials, things cleaned out of the basement, attic or garage.  



NO HAZARDOUS WASTE WILL BE ACCEPTED.  

The Town of Guilderland holds two Household Hazardous Waste Days per year for disposal of residential household hazardous waste.  Please call the Transfer Station for dates, location and time.
