From the Town Clerk's Desk -
Last week Mrs. Abele and her daughter, Carol Ann, stopped by the Town Clerk's Office. Mrs. Abele started to praise the Town for the wonderful transportion service she gets for her doctor appointments. She's particularly fond of Steve, one of the drivers. He takes her right into the Doctor's office. Mrs. Abele shared with the Town Clerk that Senior Services were started many years ago. I offered for her to meet Mary Ann if she was available. Mrs. Abele and Carol Ann were very happy to speak with Mary Ann. Mary Ann also shared more information about services that the Town provides that Mrs. Abele feels she will now avail herself of. Carol Ann appreciates the help her mother receives from Senior Services as it can be difficult to take time off from work.
As you may know, there is a plaque downstairs in the lobby of Town Hall dedicated to Mr. Fred Abele for his dedicated work as an Assistant Town Historian many years ago. Additionally, I know that Mr. & Mrs. Abele were both very involved with the McKownville Fire Department as well. A little park off of Schoolhouse Road is named in honor of Fred Abele.
