TOWN OF GUILDERLAND
Minutes for Committee Meeting on October 25, 2006
Attendees: Present: - Lieutenant Cox, Patricia Slavick, Mike Hotaling, Norine Molloy, Minnie Lee and Jerry Houser who recorded the minutes.
Absent: Scott Snide, Betty McGowan, and Joe Hallenbeck
Meeting began at 7:05 PM and ended at 8:20 PM.
Minutes: The draft minutes from the September 27 meeting were approved as submitted.
Updates: VanWormer Drive – the Chairman continues to pursue resolution of the Mapquest issue which has not yet been resolved.
Unfinished Business
1) Jean Place/Christina Drive – At the September 27th meeting of the TRC, members present agreed to delay a vote on this issue pending input from TSC members not present. In addition, Mike reported that the traffic study did not indicate excessive speeding traffic on Jean Place with the 85 percentile of cars moving at 30MPH and 33 MPH. After a thorough discussion of the issues raised and recorded in the TSC minutes from the September 27th meeting and Mike’s presentation, the TSC voted to recommend to the Town Board the installation of stop signs on Christine Drive East and West where each intersects with Jean Place. The TSC also agreed to take no action at this time to remove the existing stop sign on Jean Place at Christina Drive West; this intersection will be reviewed as
further developments occur in the area. N/F/A
2) Nott Road / Grant Hill Road / Foundry Road – Based on previous discussions on this issue including no accident history at this intersection, an Albany County traffic study in 2004 resulting with the installation of stop signs on Grant Hill Road and Nott Road because of sight distances and a negative recommendation from the Town Designated Engineer after field visits to the site in October, 2006, the TSC voted to deny the request for the installation of additional stop signs. 3) Witte Road – Patricia will check on availability of funds for printing 5000 Traffic Safety Advisory postcards. Mike and Patricia will work together to do the mailing if and when the cards are available. T/B/C
New Business (off agenda)
1) Lillian Road and East Lydius Street - Mike will check sight distances (possible tree obstruction).
2) McKown Road/Woodscape Drive – Mike reported that the culverts were installed and the project is complete. N/F/A
