On Tuesday August 5th, the Guilderland Police Community Service Unit hosted National Night Out at Tawasentha Park in Guilderland. Billed as one of the largest crime prevention gatherings, thousands of residents received information about crime prevention and personal safety from a variety of organizations. In addition, the free event offered family-friendly events including games, ice cream, a concert by the Refrigerators at the GPAC stage and fireworks. Supervisor Runion, Chief Lawlor and Town Board members welcomed State Senator Cecilia Tkaczyk and Assemblywoman Pat Fahy to the event. Senator Tkaczyk presented K-9 Rocky and handler Officer Don Jones with a Certificate of Appreciation for their dedicated service to the Guilderland Police Department and the residents of Guilderland.
