The Town of Guilderland Parks & Recreation Department is pleased to announce that over the summer, Girl Scout Troop 1003 choseTawasentha Park in Guilderland as the location of their Bronze Award Project. The girls decided to create a Tawasentha Park Nature Find with signage in the park for people to take the Nature Find challenge. The girls broke into teams with Team 1deciding what to put on the Nature Find PDF, Team 2 designing the sign and choosing a sign company and Team 3 selecting a fundraising event (car wash, cookie sales) and creating advertising (newspaper, flyers and social media).
The Bronze Award is the highest award for a Junior Girl Scout. The entire troop works on the project and it must be something in which the girls are interested, fulfills a need and is self-sustaining. The girls must complete a GS Journey program, which builds skills to help the girls develop, plan and implement their project.
