Dear Residents and Visitors:
Welcome to the website for the Town of Guilderland, a diverse and growing community with over 36,000 residents in its 58.7 square miles. I hope you find our website a useful source for information about our Town and its services.
On our website, you can find the Town Code, helpful department forms, budget and financial reports, and agendas, materials, and minutes for the our boards, committees, and other municipal meetings. Our website is regularly updated, with the goal of making your town government as efficient and transparent as possible.
We have invested in a new broadcast system, with improved cameras, enhanced sound, and an interactive smart board for participating in meetings of the Town Board, Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, Conservation Advisory Council, Conservation Easement Review Board, Comprehensive Plan Update Committee, Traffic Safety Committee, and Industrial Development Agency. These live broadcasts are also available online as on-demand recordings that are indexed to the posted agenda.
You can learn about upcoming events on our calendars for public meetings and community events. On the “Subscribe to News,” tab, you can sign up for notices about upcoming meetings, and my weekly newsletter email about events and items of interest. We also use Nixle, a free service for text and/or email notifications about public safety, emergencies, road closures and community events, and share helpful information on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
You can register for Parks and Recreation programs and events and golf outings at the Town-owned Western Turnpike Golf Course, review your property’s tax assessment, explore senior services program and services, make online payments for tax and water bills, access police accident reports, and other resources. You can also find helpful links to our local school districts and libraries, and Federal, State, and County governments.
You can learn about our environmental initiatives, including its recognition as a Clean Energy Community, Climate Smart Community, and commitment to community solar and conversion of streetlights to LED. We also received the State’s rare authorization for a Conservation Easement program which provides property tax benefits to owners interested in protecting farmlands and sensitive areas from development.
I welcome any feedback that you may have about our website. Please feel free to contact me at 518-356-1980. I look forward to hearing from you.
