The Guilderland Traffic Safety Committee is comprised of both Town Staff and appointed citizen representatives. The committee serves as a forum to express traffic-related concerns and to explore alternatives for improving traffic safety. The TSC is an advisory group, meaning that the committee does not have legislative power. Upon reaching a consensus, the TSC makes recommendations to the Town Board for ultimate decision rendering.
Traffic safety concerns presented to the various Town agencies are forwarded to the TSC for consideration. Public meetings are typically held on the last Wednesday of each month and start at 7 pm. Residents are encouraged to attend these meetings which are held at Town Hall. The meeting structure for each item on the agenda includes; a presentation of the concern by the Chairperson, a technical briefing of relevant governing guidelines, and an opportunity for public input. Walk-in concerns are welcome but decisions can not usually be rendered since site inspections are often needed.
The Traffic Safety Committee does not review private development projects that are under consideration by the Zoning Board or the Planning Board. Hearings for those projects are open to the public at the respective board meetings.
