Summer Recreation & Day Camp Programs

A wide range of directed Summer Recreation programs include activities for children, teens, family groups, senior citizens, children with disabilities and cultural and recreational programs such as Guilderland Performing Arts Concerts on Thursday nights, Children's Theatre, Art Festivals, Cross Country running meets and other special events throughout the year.

The Guilderland Parks & Recreation Department offers a Summer Day Camp program open to Guilderland youth 5 to 13 years of age.  The Day Camp, located at Tawasentha Park, is offered over three two-week sessions, from the end of June to the beginning of August.  The camp's theme is to promote fun, physical fitness, social enrichment, outdoor life and artistic creation.  Free bus transportation is provided for the 6 weeks of the summer day camp.  Summer Camp brochures are distributed through the Guilderland School District's backpack mail program at the end of March each year.  Brochures are also available online at www.guilderlandrec.com.  You can also download the Camp Tags here.

In addition to the Day Camp, numerous enrichment and sports camps are offered by the Parks & Recreation Department throughout the summer at various locations in Guilderland.

The Guilderland Babe Ruth league plays out of two fields; the Babe Ruth Field in Tawasentha Park and the Dutchmen Field in Keenholt's Park.  The Dutchmen Field has been in operation since 2006 and is primarily used by the older players.

The field at Tawasentha Park has been in use since the 1970's and is used by the younger players.  A new scoreboard donated in part by Berkshire Bank was recently erected at the Dutchmen Field.  The Town is looking forward to irrigation of the Dutchmen Field in 2008.
